1. Denver Art Museum

2. Denver Botanic Gardens

3. Molly Brown House Museum


Here is the home of the late “Unsinkable” Molly Brown, an American socialite and philanthropist who gained fame for surviving the wreckages of the Titanic. The museum presents exhibitions about her life, Victorian Denver, and historic preservation. Current events include Victorian Horrors, a series of author readings to usher in the spooky season, and a lecture about the architecture of haunted houses. 

4. Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art

This museum houses three principal collections, including the original studio and art school building of visionary painter Vance Kirkland. Their current exhibition is Truth, Beauty and Power: Christopher Dresser and The Aesthetic Movement.

5. Clyfford Still Museum

Large-scale paintings are housed here, as is an overall archive of the Abstract Expressionist Movement. The current exhibition is called Stories We Tell: The Collection Two Ways, curated by Bailey Placzek and Dean Sobel.

6. Denver Firefighters Museum

This 11,000 square-foot facility, functioning as a nonprofit institution 501, houses four galleries displaying art and artifacts exploring the history of firefighting in Denver. Their exhibition is permanent, rotating objects and incorporating new pieces as they are discovered. 

7. American Museum of Western Art

This non-profit museum is the permanent home of the Anschutz Collection, a “formerly private collection of paintings that surveys the art of the American West from the early 19th century to the present.” While there are no temporary exhibitions, there are learning programs and lectures. 

8. Denver Museum of Nature and Science

This impressive museum is considered to be an integral fixture of Colorado scientific education initiatives. The museum houses over one million artifacts, primarily in natural history fields including anthropology and archaeology. Current exhibitions include virtual reality experiences and After the Asteroid: Earth’s Comeback Experience. They also host countless lectures and educational programs for all ages. 

9. Forney Museum of Transportation

This impressive transportation museum and non-profit organization exhibits over 500 pieces, with a focus on antique automobiles. Their mission is to collect, preserve, and exhibit items of artistic and technological significance to transportation.
